wow. we've driven by several times seeing quite a few cars in the lot, saying "let's check it out sometime". I really wanted to like it because, let's face it, there aren't many options in these parts. and I'd gotten my hopes up because it looks pretty nice on the outside (clearly they spent some money on this venture). Obviously the kitchen doesn't get many "salad" orders, but it WAS on the menu. I rarely order a salad, and have never written a review based on a salad. But... My daughter received a mound of iceberg lettuce and tomato on a plate , with what was clearly a single piece of Kraft cheese (yes, the kind where you peel the plastic off each slice). The "chef" creatively cut the cheese (no pun intended) into 5 strips and laid them out in a border surrounding the lettuce. Your mouth is probably watering by now. One saving grace - I think the waitress felt bad, because she didn't charge us for the "salad". I think she was trying.. Oh, you'll probably enjoy calling EVERY item on the menu by some stoopid cutesy name (Al Capone Fries, Tommygun chicken sandwich, etc.). We were given "prime" seating within 10 feet of a "musician" with a synthesizer and drum loop, playing pitiful self-penned ballads. When she didn't turn the volume down (nice distortion there sweetheart), we asked to be relocated. No can do - "yer' daughter is a minor, and can't sit 'in the bar". A customer seated alone with a handful of tattoos looks down at his beer, out the window, and then down at the floor. This guy is clearly not having a good time either (but I think for different reasons). I pictured him being the musician's husband. "Damn Ed! Junior has my car, and I need a ride to my gig!!" A couple of drunk women wander over to the jukebox and feed it money in the middle of the musician's "set". Normally I'd object...(no one else did either). I do need to ask - what does a "Bar and Grill" need a stripper pole on the stage for?

Friendly enough staff, really well done decorating. They capture the theme well and the inside looks very nice with the gangster theme. We had a lunch here and it was plastic cups of pop and plastic baskets featuring SAMs club type food. Im sure the bar portion would be very cool later on but being that its rooted in cedar lake, it feels like it would be nothing but unwelcoming patrons

Good food and great comedy show on Wednesday nights....great price for the generous food portions. Mixed drinks not so great. They have a beautiful large outdoor patio to enjoy.

Have stopped in a few times. Drinks can be over priced for a cedar lake bar. Food is ok. Had the wings ( 1st time I had them they were awesome next time I went they weren't the same) tater skins (exactly what you'd expect) & pizza ( I enjoyed it). If they could get the stink out of there and adjust their drink prices I'd give them another star.

First time there much smaller than I expected we had great drinks and the food was pretty decent - will definitely try again.

This was my first visit to Goodfellas. I was really disappointed in the food, service, and atmosphere that's why I'm giving it a one star rating. Myself, my bf and his son went in for a late dinner around 8:30 PM tonight (Friday). The waitress informed us that they did not have PBR or serve soup during summer months. She also took down the wrong drink order which had to be set back. The food selection was limited to a lot of fried and greasy food. It wasn't that tasty --and ontop of that - they had a DJ come in start playing music (loudly) - and turned down all the lights and put on strobe, laser, and party lights even though there were families still dining. It was bad business and management decision making I think. Especially because they had a band playing outside. People that wanted to party could just went out there!! Disappointing!

We have gone there several times when debating where to go on a Friday for beer after work and possibly a quick bite. The specials never change and they are called specials for a reason. The consistency of the food is not there. The waitress staff is usually really efficient until they get really busy, as to be expected. The bartenders aren't overly friendly unless you are a regular that sits at the bar. But I guess that's everywhere you go. They need to step up their game if they want all the business that Zuni's used to get that is now closed. Don't post pics on facebook on your food that doesn't look at all like the pictures when it is served! They do have an awesome beer garden area with a firepit.

Only getting a 2 star cus the Philly was good. Sat at the bar and had reasonable service through Natalie. One waitress spent 10 min talking to an employee that was visiting and did not bus her tables until the bartender told her 3 times. The part that really upset me was a gentleman at the end of the bar. I believe he is the owner. He cussed up a storm during his conversation and then made a comment about drinking beer makes you "queer." I was drinking a bell's 2 hearted. If things couldn't get any worse, this is non smoking establishment. When they do last call the owner locked the doors and proceeded to have a cigarette, the bartender joined in. What happened me sitting in the bar? Why am I smelling your smoke when this is a non smoking establishment? Isn't this illegal? Also, thanks for turning off Monday night football early.

Update: The ribs are great. Fall off the bones great. Only 10.95 for a full slab, you can't buy them at the grocery store for that. Sauce is really good too. (Wednesday special price) My prior review got deleted somehow. They have one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Sauce is just right. Can't beat the price either especially on Tuesdays. I love this place !

5/30/2014 good food waitress Trisha gave excellent service I'll go back....

We had the Pauly steak sandwich. The sandwich, homemade chips and onion rings were phenomenal and our waitress Tricia was the BEST! The prices are great for the quality and quantity of food. We will definitely go back. Thank you Tricia for such a great experience!

The food here is top-notch...my Italian sausage sandwich came with a nice, heavy red sauce and perfectly melted motz to match. The prices are very reasonable...around $20 for two adults to have lunch and a drink. Not bad. I can't vouch for the bar scene, as we stopped in around lunchtime just to eat. The beer garden looks very nice --can't wait to check that out this summer! My only complaint is the cigarette smell --it is overwhelming when the bar is very empty. I can't imagine how strong it gets on a busy night. It would definitely affect my decision on whether or not to eat here in the evening.

I disagree with the other reviews! This place rocks! Awesome food, great atmosphere, and seriously how can you go wrong with a gangster theme?! Rockin music regularly and a fire pit outside where you can hang out and have a drink! I love this place!

"Fuh getta bout it!" This bar and grill in such an unlikely place of Cedar Lake intriguing me to stop in with it's 20's and 30's gangster theme. It's a great looking restaurant with a huge outdoor seating area. The inside is peppered with pictures of gangsters, but I was instantly put off by the tvs showing either sportcenter or spike tv, Why not some videos of gangsters as well? The food was average. I had the Dutchman. The burger on a pretzel roll was ok, nothing I'd get again. The chips were tasty but greasy. The place is definitely not smoke free and I can see when this place is busy at night this could be an annoyance for some. They have a good size stage inside and probably have some good shows to put on, but once again being in Cedar Lake, who could they get to come out down here?

This review is based on tonight. It is Wednesday and comedy night as it states on the website. Sadly no comic tonight but I was told there would be one next week. It was not overly crowded but it did take forever to get a drink. There are drink specials on Wednesdays. 3.00 Long Island and 3.00 for Vegas bombs... And according to the website 3.50 for frozen mixed drinks. My Long Island was decent, my friend had a mudslide that was not and it cost 6.00. It was just made with ice and mix... Normally it is creamier and made with ice cream well at least where we normally go. We all got food and it was pretty good. My friend had a pulled pork with coleslaw. She liked it. Some of our other friends just had an appetizer platter. My brother got a huge basket of cheese fries that were covered with Bacon. I had a Philly beef sandwich that was put on top of garlic bread. It was pretty tasty though not what I am used to. They had chunks of beef instead of slices. I also had coleslaw and it was very good. We were there about 8:30 on a weeknight, not looking to get plastered but speed on getting drinks is important. We came for the comedy but no comedy. Slow service but the food was good so this time I can only give them 3 stars but I will check it out again.

This was my first visit to Goodfellas and really wanted to like it since it's close to where I'm staying. The food was decent. We had a pizza and a burger with salads. My burger was tasty and cooked well done but not over done. The pizza had a good flavored sauce and toppings. I would have liked a crispier thin crust but overall was good and 1/2 price! My complaint was the jukebox was overly loud for 5:30 pm. When family is there with kids they should tone it down until 7-8pm. Try the patio weather permitting.

I've eaten here three times. Pizza is decent but their sandwiches are tasteless and dry. It's like they've never tried their own food. Well, that's the last time I'll eat there. Too many other bar/restaurants out there.....

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Either the manager or waitress added $4 to my mom's tip that she didn't leave or authorize. It wasn't enough for my mom to challenge so she just let it go with the understanding that NONE of us would be back. The food was also greasy and the drinks tasted watered down.
(1)Christina M.
It's ok nothing special. They have a lot of "bar food". It's good if you're there already and you need to. I would never go out of my way to eat there. I haven't had the pizza yet (it'ssuppose to be really good) so I can't comment on that. They have a good full bar...they make awesome bloody Marys on the weekend. They have a cool outside patio with a big fire pit. They have live music all the time and it's a fun place to people watch at night.

Went to Goodfellas to try somewhere different for a friends Birthday for dinner and drinks. Boy was that a mistake! We sat in the back in the booths knowing we were a larger group. Everything was great through dinner and even had made plans to return. That quickly changed as the lights dimmed and it became an attempt at a comedy show. A group of girls sat at the table next to us as they were asked by Rodney, the MC for the show, to not sit up front if they were going to be talking. Rodney then brought the birthday girl on stage and attempted multiple times to have our group move up to the front. We respectfully declined each time. In between acts the comedians sat right behind us at the bar. We listened to the dry comedy and as much as they tried there was no audience participation. We were never loud or disrespectful until Rodney came back on the microphone and began harassing the birthday girl. That was when he took it too far, we all got our checks and were trying to pay and fix bill discrepancies when he brought RACE into it with Black Lives Matter! The bartender told us we were disrespectful....if you can hear our table talking... not yelling... perhaps you need better acoustics in there... while your at it get better comedians or at least hold everyone to the same level of respect in your establishment.
